Pivot

PiVOTAL is a nonprofit undertaking of Pivot Co., Ltd., which provides research, translation, and press relations support for overseas investors who are active in Japan. Pivot’s work has historically centered on support for activity in short selling, though the firm has also assisted investors in building long positions in Japanese equities.

The firm’s principals are Miller Waku and Fujiwara Akiko. Waku has more than 40 years of experience in investor relations and due diligence research in Japan. Akiko, a prominent poet, handles the editing for Pivot’s editorial output. Together, the two help overseas investors come to terms with investment targets in Japan and help Japanese corporations come to terms with potential shareholders overseas.

The support available from Pivot includes providing effective intermediation, nurturing genuinely multilateral understanding, and fostering good-faith communication from a strategic perspective. A summary of projects that Pivot has handled for a global cast of clients is available on request at the email address below.
